(b. 4/7/49, Germany) Practising artist in sculpture and jewellery.
Internationally acclaimed for his splendidly tactile sculpture, Silvio needs little introduction to the clients of Greenhill Galleries. GGA has a large collection of Silvio's large and small sculptures in bronze, granite and wood as well as his delicately beautiful silver brooches.
Of himself, Silvio says:
"I have been inspired by wood since childhood, when I first began to carve. Perhaps, in a subconscious attempt to compensate for my origins in the war-torn horror of Europe, I deliberately seek the beauty of the natural world and all its moods as an inspiration for my work, whether it be the quiet of a forest and its creatures, the sea and the myriad of forms to be found in it...a whale leaping, the awesome might of a storm, or the desert with its subtle, timid life, like the red barred dragon which adapts so amazingly to the harshness.
I hope to share with you the God-given beauty and peace that is to be found in our world."
